Today's akumal mexico rental vacation Article
Fun things to do on your vacation!!!

Thats the intent of this article, to wake up some ideas in your head, and plan for things to do in Florida and any of your travels.

When we venture down to Florida or anywhere for that fact of the matter, we first figure out what activities we definitely dont want to miss. Here is our list of favorite things to do on vacation

1. Sit on the beach and play in the ocean. This is a no brainer. We love to walk the beach, bathe in the sun, play in the waves, and watch the beautiful people.
What types of things do you do on your vacation? What activities do you have planned? Do you relax, go active, or a little of both?
2. Play golf. Golf is a great game. There are excellent golf courses all over the world to choose from and you can even plan an entire golf vacation.

3. Go fishing. Deep sea fishing or fishing from a pier is a blast. If you have never done this try it once, youll love it.

4. Other sporting activities like scuba, snorkeling, water skiing, parasailing, renting jet skis, or whatever. There are a ton of water activities to choose from.

5. Day trips and tours are awesome choices. Rent a boat for the day. Take a barefoot cruise. Venture over to Orlando and go to Disney World or any theme park. Dinner cruises, exploring, hiking, tours at local sites, and anything else that you can think of.

6. Go shopping! Yes, the ladies will love this one and probably already have it planned. I hate to shop, but it is actually fun when I am on vacation. It wears me out though. Take some extra money and visit the local shops, find souvenirs, and spend some of that hard-earned money.

7. Drive around. We have rented convertibles or motorcycles for a couple of days and just explored the area. One time, we went from Miami to Key West and spent the day there. Another time, we traveled up the A1A highway along the Atlantic Coast of Florida, enjoying the luxurious homes, yachts, and views. You can even do this as a weekend getaway. Find a cool spot thats only 6 hours or less away and take off. We always have fun doing this.

8. Take in local entertainment, events, restaurants, and such. Go dancing, find the best watering holes, do something romantic, party likes its 1999. Remember, you are on vacation and its time to have some fun and do stuff you dont usually get to do at home.

The list is as endless as your imagination. These are just a few general ideas that we always plan on doing. Be creative and try new things.

Enjoy your trip, have a good time, and tell us your stories!!!

What you need to know about - Camping Vacations

Camping is a delightful and adventurous way to spend your vacations. Camping basically means living in tents that are pitched on specific grounds. The biggest advantage of camping is the cost saving. You can have a good vacation within your budget. For you will have to spend least on accommodation. While if you go for stay in hotels, a large chunk of your money is gone in paying for per day rent of your room. On the top of it camping is not associated with troubles like what type and class of room to take, how much will be too much for this etc. Camping also takes you away from all such hurly-burly of the big hotels and lends you the opportunity to follow your style.

If you are willing to go for camping then dont think twice. For the fares to camp on grounds are as low as around ten to twenty five dollar per night. All you have to do is select the place or ground you want to camp. This information can be collected through the internet. The best and most popular site is www.nps.gov . The nps stands for the National Park Service. Most of the camping grounds are under it. The site will inform you fully about the fees, the locations, the rules and regulations, which slightly vary from ground to ground. There can be several parameters to decide which camping ground you want to go for. These can be the activities involved like some might prefer fishing grounds to rafting, horse riding, boating, hiking or even a serene and romantic ground. Others may give preference to the amenities. For instance the ground that provides the best facilities in terms of water, toilets, parking etc. might be their top priority. A class of people might also just look at the costs involved. So at the end of the day it is entirely at you and your familys discretion where to pitch the tent.

The moment you decide the grounds, make a list of the things that you need to pack. This should be cross checked with the services that will be provided to you at the camp site. For instance, if the camp site facilitates you with hygienic drinking water all round the clock then you need not carry too many water bottles with you. However, there are certain things that are too important to be ignored by you. Some of which are sleeping bag for every member of your family, toiletries, cookware, plates, silverware, towels, trash bags to keep yourself clean, pair of sneakers and last but not the least a warm pullover or gown for it is often chilly at night.

Though the packing is a little cumbersome but it cannot undermine the benefits. You get to save ample of many that you can invest in many ways like either in eating at a five star or shopping for yourself and the like. Moreover camping teaches you and makes you self-dependent. Even those men who do not do any household work at all are seen cleaning plates while camping. Is that great for their wives!

Some of the well known camping grounds in America are-Yellowstone National Park,
Isle Royal National Park (known for its aura of tranquility), Great Basin National Park
(Beautiful caves and fishing), Dry Tortugas National Park (snorkeling, scuba diving,
Tropical fish and wildlife), Point Reyes National Park (horse riding, kayaking, biking),
Greta Canyon National Park, Joshua Tree National Park (mystifying mountain ranges), Denali National Park (skiing and snow shoeing) and so forth.

National Lampoon European Vacation

National Lampoon European Vacation
After winning a tour package in a game show, the bickering Griswald family carve a trail of destruction through England (where they knock over Stonehenge), France, Germany, and Italy. Somehow Ellen (Bevery D'Angelo), the mom, gets kidnapped by gangsters, leading to a car chase that reunites the family, despite their differences. It's hard to believe that National Lampoon's European Vacation is only the second of the Vacation movies; it has the exhausted pallor of the last of a long series of sequels, drained of all zest or original ideas. The charmless smirk of Chevy Chase, mechanical in its idiocy, hangs over European Vacation like a death mask. It's hard to believe that this hack was once the funny and sexy hero of Foul Play. D'Angelo keeps her chin up and gives the movie whatever class it may have; she deserves better. --Bret Fetzer

Vacation Marketing

Does your marketing come to a screeching halt during your annual vacation pilgrimage? Do you cease to promote your company and your products or services? Does your company dwindle into a period of non-existence while you are away?

Success Promotions' Wizard of marketing has an alternative! Introducing Vacation Marketing!

Preparing for your vacation marketing begins with loading up your pockets, wallet, briefcase, swim bag, and suit case with business cards, flyers, samples, portfolio materials, magnets, pens, pencils, and anything else upon which you might have imprinted your business information. If your advertising budget allows for it, you can even have something special imprinted just for the occasion.

Some ideas for special items you might prepare would include toy sail boats, kites, beach balls or pool towels for a beach trip. Incidentally, if anyone sells a kite that looks like a wizard with perhaps stars on the tail, please email me! Walking sticks, canteens, t-shirts, water bottles would be appropriate for a mountain trip. Sunglasses, pencils, and notepads would be good for a trip to a metropolitan area.

For the remainder of this article, I will cite examples specifically from my condo visit to the islands off the coast of South Carolina.

Leaving behind refrigerator magnets, pens, and pencils with Success Promotions logo as well as client logos are a fantastic way to have an advertising imprint impact upon visitors week after week. If someone likes a magnet or is interested enough in the company that they take it home with them that is okay with me. Worse things could happen! Vacation facilities with kitchens are also great places to leave mugs, water bottles, etc. Not only is it great to have them remain at the condominium where continuous visitors might see them, it also doesn't hurt to have them taken home as souvenirs by visitors from all over these United States and beyond.

Today most condos and many hotels equip their rooms with not only a television but also a VCR. You can leave behind a video showing the process of weaving your baskets, firing your pottery, forming your soaps, or any other process that adds to the intrinsic value of the products you make available to consumers. The only problem with the video tapes is that they are less likely to be seen by everyone.

Vacation destinations are saturated with small and unique gift shops. If your product is something that would be a good item for them to resale, you might want to turn your vacation into a business venturing trip by visiting with a few shop keepers and finding people who might sell, re-sell, or consign your products.

Vacation destinations are also chock full of people who strive to attain the better things in life. The person next to you at the tiki bar, the pool, or the rowing machine might just be the next best recruit for your network marketing business. You'll never know if you don't ask. And for those of us who have never been quite that outgoing in our recruiting efforts at least don't miss the opportunity when asked what you do for a living.

Many timeshares and weekly or monthly rental options at vacation destinations have welcoming parties at their onset. You might be able to donate a prize or two of your imprinted items to their raffles or drawings. Also, these same companies also offer scheduled activity events. Often these events even include things like make over parties and wine tastings. You might even be able to plan ahead and offer such activities through the management company. Incidentally if you live in a vacation destination or apartment community, similar marketing opportunities might exist.

Don't forget the same things that you can do any time at home. Host samplings, seminars, etc. The opportunities exist most places, you just may have to research a little harder to find them in your vacation destination.

Lots of shops, restaurants, and hotels offer you the chance to sign a guest book or put your business card in a fish bowl to get you on their mailing list. Doing so allows you to maintain constant contact with them as well. And some of these places will have extensive mailing lists you might wish to consider advertising to or renting.

The last thing you want to remember about your trips out of town is this: Whenever you are driving somewhere you might go on vacation you pass or are passed by thousands of other vehicles. http://www.webdecals.com provides an excellent way to advertise while you drive. Needless to say, when you add a webdecal to your car or van, its a good idea to wash the vehicle on a regular basis. I know my mini van stays much cleaner now that I've added www.SuccessPromotions.com to the back window!

10 SHORT MARKETING QUOTES TO ADD PUNCH TO YOUR EZINE, NEWSLETTER OR WEBSITENoel Peebles

1. Marketing

You can have the best product or service in the world, but if people don't buy - it's worthless. So in reality it doesnt matter how wonderful your new product or service is. The real question is - will they buy it?

Noel Peebles, Author Sell Your Business The Easy Way http://www.instantsellbusiness.com

2. Change In Business

Without change a business will become sluggish, even bureaucratic. It will lose its sharp edge and become slow at making decisions and taking action. It will avoid any situation that might hold even the slightest element of risk. Id love to compete with a company like that!

Noel Peebles, Author Sell Your Business The Easy Way http://www.instantsellbusiness.com

3. Markets

Make no mistake; there are literally thousands of potential tightly niched markets out there. Markets abound! Your first job is to find one, and discover what it is the market wants. Then, and only then, do you consider what kind of products or services you might be able to supply to that market.

Noel Peebles, Author Sell Your Business The Easy Way http://www.instantsellbusiness.com

4. Needs/Wants

If only searching for needs motivated us humans, then our world would not have advanced beyond a primitive state of hunting and gathering. Progress comes from our "want" for more and better things.

Noel Peebles, Author Sell Your Business The Easy Way http://www.instantsellbusiness.com

5. Market Positioning

What's the ONE WORD or phrase that comes to mind when customer's think of your business? Is it service, price, selection, convenience, quality or something else? Do you really "own" that word or phrase in the customer's mind?

Noel Peebles, Author Sell Your Business The Easy Way http://www.instantsellbusiness.com

6. Market Positioning

Positioning is the marketing tool that helps prospects and customers identify what's unique about your product, service or company. Use positioning to give your advertising purpose, to give it a message, and to give it the appropriate tone. Then and only then, are you on your way to developing a good advertising strategy.

Noel Peebles, Author Sell Your Business The Easy Way http://www.instantsellbusiness.com

7. Advertising Techniques

The problem is that most ads just aim to get attention by using bold or unusual graphic gimmicks. It is a bit like walking up to a customer and grabbing them by both shoulders, staring them in the face, and shaking them. You may get their attention, but will they buy?

Noel Peebles, Author Sell Your Business The Easy Way http://www.instantsellbusiness.com

8. Marketing Perceptions

Marketing is not a battle of products, it's a battle of perceptions. It doesn't matter if you have best product or service, it's what people think that counts. That is not to say, you shouldn't have a good product or service - it is a prerequisite of doing business these days. Customers expect it.

Noel Peebles, Author Sell Your Business The Easy Way http://www.instantsellbusiness.com

9. Marketing Perceptions

Once people perceive you one way, it can be very difficult and expensive to change their perception. They file you away in their minds as a certain type of business offering a certain type of product or service.

Noel Peebles, Author Sell Your Business The Easy Way http://www.instantsellbusiness.com

10. Change In Business

Its easy to form habits and become set in our ways. If we resist change, then so will our staff. The company might plod along okay as everything steadily changes around it. Then, day-by-day business will get a bit tougher. Customers will become more demanding. Competition will increase and it will become harder to make ends meet. It may take a few years, but eventually the company will become another business statistic - one that didnt need to happen.

5 Strategies for Getting Market Feedback (While Effectively Marketing Yourself)Tatiana Velitchkov

Running a successful business doesn't simply involve selling or providing a great product or service.

It also means knowing exactly how your clients feel about your current offerings, so you can change the way you do things and better serve their needs.

The beauty of the Internet is that it makes this necessary feedback mechanism more speedy & convenient for both the business owner and the surfer -- especially when conducted over a dynamic business website.

So why are many companies still in the dark about what their customers REALLY want, and end up saying goodbye before they can even ask why?

If you're the kind of business owner who wants his current clients to stay, then consider these 5 strategies for getting their valuable insights & feedback... while endearing yourself to them as someone who actually listens and cares:

1) Polls / Surveys

Most people want their opinions to count. That's why most surfers are inclined to cast their votes whenever a website politely asks them to.

You can use this to your advantage by using polls & surveys to know your potential clients' preferences, particularly when it comes to your products & services.

When conducting any kind of poll online, just remember 3 things:

1. Make it QUICK.

Keep in mind that your surfer has other things to do (like fill out your order form), so limit most polls to just one question each.

2. Make it CONVENIENT.

Create drop down menus or radio buttons for your surfer to click on, so they won't have to waste time typing in the whole answer.

3. Make it WORTHWHILE.

If you want the most number of feedback in the shortest possible time, offer a prize for specific "lucky voters," within the range of respondents that you expect for your survey.

If you have 1,000 prospective voters, for example, you can award voter number 500 with your premium service package at half the price, and grant voter number 1,000 the entire package for free!

Just make sure you have all the contest rules clearly stated before you ask for their votes... or they might vote against you & your business forever.

2) Message Boards

Message boards hold their own appeal for surfers truly interested in the topics your website usually covers.

When moderated properly & promoted regularly, they can become "virtual hangouts" where people:

- share their knowledge & opinions - offer advice / ask for help - or simply meet other people with the same interests.

Although some clients with tight surfing schedules find that "having to go online and visit a specific URL" is rather taxing, you can make the idea more attractive by:

- stimulating dynamic discussions in your board by raising current & compelling issues

- regularly telling your casual surfers about the hottest ongoing debates & topics in the forum

- and directly asking people to offer their own insights, while providing an easy-to-click link or URL.

3) Mailing List

The mailing list is very similar to the message board, in that it encourages discussions among your clients & would-be clients. The only difference is that everything here is done through email, and members aren't required to go online to interact.

Just like the message board, however, there are 3 secrets to effectively using mailing lists to gain useful feedback:

1. Keep all discussions FOCUSED on the same general topic -- preferably the field/industry you're doing business in.

Often, your own members' posts will be enough to keep you updated about the major issues that affect your business, saving you time and money on reading and research.

2. Allow members to mention your COMPETITION'S products & services; let them even make personal comparisons.

These posts will give you valuable insights for improving YOUR OWN products & services... and how you can convince even your competition's clients to change their minds and trust YOU.

3. Finally, remain VISIBLE in your own message board or discussion list.

Give helpful comments, offer positive feedback, and praise every real effort made by members to share what they know. This is your chance to establish a real, ongoing relationship with the people who frequent your website... and turn most of them into friends, or clients or (if you're lucky) both.

4) Chat Event

If you're just starting your own business, however, you probably won't have the time to manage a message board or mailing list just yet.

What you CAN do is promote & hold a regular chat event on your site each month, inviting both regular and potential clients alike.

To make each chat event worthwhile, remember to:

- Focus on a specific topic, preferably something your surfers will be very interested in.

- Set a definite schedule and time limit. Be aware of the time differences among your surfers, and try to set a schedule that is convenient for everyone.

- Promote the event well in advance. Tell as many people about it as you can (just make sure your servers can handle them). And finally -

- Give everyone clear & concise directions on how they can participate.

Minimize their chances for getting errors or getting lost during the event, so they can focus on what they want to say -- which is exactly the kind of feedback you need.

5) Feedback Forms

Of course, the feedback collection process won't be complete without the familiar online form.

Although these forms are common, not all of them work as well most business owners need them to.

To set up the kind of form that's easy to send & easy to reply to, observe the following DOs & DON'Ts:

- DON'T just invite them to send all queries & requests to the same email address.

- DO create a drop-down menu for the "Recipient" field listing the different departments in your company, so each email will be instantly routed to the right person or mailbox.

- DON'T just use a generic form mailer for your "contact us" page.

- DO use a drop-down menu for the "Subject" field, listing the most common reasons people have for wanting to email you.

Aside from helping your client/surfer focus his reason for contacting you, it also helps you categorize each request quickly so you can deal with each batch of email more promptly.

The truth is, feedback is important not only in business, but also in our dreams, and our everyday lives.

Some feedback will be good, and some of it will be bad. Some will encourage us, some might crush us, and some might even have the chance to totally disillusion us.

But the important thing to look forward to is that feedback will always CHANGE us... and WE decide if we're going to be better because of it.

Jaws

Jaws
From the best-selling novel by Peter Benchley, Steven Spielberg directed this thrill ride of terror. During the height of beach season, the Massachusetts resort town of Amity Island is terrorized one summer by surprise attacks from a great white shark. Three unlikely partners team up to hunt down the rogue and destroy it: the new chief of police from New York (Roy Scheider), a young university-educated oceanographer (Richard Dreyfuss), and a crusty old-time fisherman (Robert Shaw). The film shoot was notoriously difficult for the young Spielberg, who had directed only one feature film before JAWS. The mechanical shark seldom operated correctly, and Spielberg was frequently forced to create the idea of terror without actually showing the shark. However, after the film premiered it went on to become the highest-grossing film of all time--surpassing THE GODFATHER and becoming the first film to gross more than a hundred million dollars. Composer John Williams created the score to JAWS, which has since become a well-known theme of impending doom. Ron and Valerie Taylor were responsible for filming live sharks in Australia; their sequences were later mixed with footage of the mechanical shark.

How to Go on a Two-Week Vacation When Youre Single and an Entrepreneur

There's no real backup, so the secret is to plan ahead. Here are some tips.
Theres no real backup when youre single, so planning well is the key. Here are some tips:

Take advantage of all the helpful travel aids available - Waterproof fanny packs, mosquito and sea sickness patches, currency converter, neck cords for license and VISA, belt hooks for this and that. Look early so you can order.

FIRST THING

As soon as you know youre going, check with neighbor or friend or book a house-sitter. Theyre out there and afford peace of mind. Ask around; doctors wives are a good resource. If you have children, youll need a sitter and power of attorney in case of illness. Call the kennel, notify the PO and newspaper. Schedule lawn care. Get your VISA and/or passport online. You can get the photo done at most drugstores. Read State Department advisories. Did you know to bring a cell phone into Russia you must have a signed agreement from a Russian provider sent to Glavgossvyaznadzor? Get immunizations you need. Check on your overseas medical coverage. If you have AAA, you may already be covered. If not, good policies cover trip cancellation & interruption, baggage & trip delay, accident medical expenses, in-hospital indemnity, lost or stolen baggage, rental car collision damage waiver and rental car personal accident. In a 3rd-world country, get medical evacuation insurance - not just to hospital, but to home. An injury in a 3rd world country can cost you tens of thousands out-of-pocket and/or your life. Arrange for transportation to the airport. Got a 10-hour international flight? How could you consider not having a good book with you? Order early! See the EQ Reading List.

A MONTH IN ADVANCE

Start informing your clients and key customers youre leaving and make arrangements. Fill in your assistant or VA on procedures, essential billing etc., autoresponders while youre gone. Familiarize yourself with remote access email where you can check from any computer, anywhere in the world. (There's Internet access even in Barbados.) Give it a trial run; you must have the username and password from your original email server. Start monitoring the weather at your destination and believe it. Im going to Russia in July, leaving San Antonio, TX where its been 98, no rain in sight. In Moscow, its been 58 with 98% humidity. Im forcing myself to pack hooded sweatsuits, sweaters and rain gear. Read your travel manual for oddities. In Russia, a woman cant enter certain churches without head-covering, nor can men in shorts. Cruise land-tours can be booked in advance and fill early. Operas sell out, so do Broadway plays. Make sure your affairs are in order. Send your next-of-kin your itinerary, and list of where your will, investments, important papers, safety deposit box key, name of accountants and attorneys, and power of attorney are. You do have a current will, dont you? Especially important if you have children. If you dont decide who will take care of them in your absence, the state will decide.

ONE WEEK BEFORE DEPARTURE

Take all the clothes to the cleaners that need to go and get the cottons and linens starched. One pair of heavily-starched blue jeans can look sharp for a week! Go through your daily routine in the am and put all those toiletries as you use them, into one large zip lock bag which youll later transfer to your suitcase. Then practice pretending thats all youve got. That way youll get everything in there! Lay out the outfit youll wear on the plane. Choose one pair of goes-with-everything earrings and shoes, one for dress, one for day. A pair of black spandex slacks packs well, goes with 10 tops, looks right anywhere, and expands as you eat your way through Europe. Put medicines and things youll need to have with you in a separate bag to go into your purse or pockets magnesium-calcium for leg willies on long plane rides, eye drops, spare glasses. For a 3rd world country, review State Dept. suggestions for eating and drinking, and heres your free sample of Immodium. My pharmacist says chew it for quickest results. Dump out your purse and/or briefcase and get rid of anything you dont need to lighten your load. Line up the chargers for your toys, including digital camera and adapters. Put new batteries in the travel alarm. When you leave, set the thermostat somewhere sensible if its likely to freeze, dont turn the heat off, just put it down low. Advise your friend to come and drip the faucets if theres a freeze or turn the AC back up high before you get home.

TWO DAYS BEFORE

If you have children make sure menus are planned and all groceries bought, activities listed, cash available, all emergency numbers, power of attorney signed and rules gone over. Lay out everything you plan to pack, take a look, and then pack it. If youre a visual organizer like I am, thats a MUST! Get cash or travelers checques.

DAY BEFORE

Take the dog to the kennel. Enjoy yourself, take a bubble bath, spend extra time with the kiddos. Relax, youve covered all your bases, now have fun!

"Did I Pack My Toothbrush?" Getting Organized for TravelStacey Agin Murray

Being organized is the key to a worry-free vacation.
For many of us summertime = vacation time. Some people will spend their days off at the local pool. Some may choose to sightsee in their own town. Many will leave behind the comforts of home for the open road. Regardless of the destination or mode of transportation, it is important to be organized for travel.

A few benefits of being organized for travel:

1. Being organized will save you time. Having a copy of your packing list on the computer will cut down on the time used for re-creating it every time you travel.

2. Being organized will save you money. Doing pre-travel shopping at home will save you big bucks (especially on film and batteries...) that might be otherwise be spent at a tourist trap.

3. Being organized will save you stress. No need to stress while scrounging for your tickets and ID at the airport if all of your paperwork is organized in one place.

Follow these organizing tips to keep your vacation a stress-free, time, and money saving event:

Plan ahead. Create a general itinerary before you travel. Grab pen and paper and jot down your travel times, hotel check-in/check-out times, and a list of activities/places you'd like to visit. This will help you make sure you have allowed enough time to get to your destination, and whether or not you've scheduled too many activities for one day.

*Stop by your local 'AAA' office for a Triptik and other travel-related services to help map out your route if driving.

Create a checklist to help you pack. Keep it on the computer so you don't have to write it over every time you leave home. Use it as a template and update it before each trip to include anything new such as medications, toiletries, accessories, etc.

Keep all information related to your trip in one place. Create a folder for papers such as reservations, confirmations, and tickets. When you look for the information you need before or during your trip, you?ll have it all at your fingertips.

Keep a toiletry bag packed with small sized travel sized-containers all year round. By doing so, you're always ready for a long trip or an overnight stay. Take a quick inventory of its contents before you leave home. You might have run out of toothpaste on your last trip...

*If your favorite products don't come in sample sizes, purchase small, travel sized containers and fill them with your favorite shampoo and creams. Label them clearly so you don't accidentally condition your hair with a facial moisturizer.

Place items you'll need immediately at the top of your suitcase. Items such as comfortable shoes, pajamas, and toiletries are more easily accessible if they're closer to top. When you're tired from a long journey, the last thing you want to be doing is rummaging through your suitcase.

Use suitcase organizers to separate outfits or types of clothing. Products such as Pack-It Cubes or Ziploc bags do the job well. Hefty makes One-Zip 2.5 gallon bags (found in many supermarkets) that are large enough to organize clothes and later can be used to keep laundry or wet bathing suits away from the rest of your belongings.

*Wearing your bulkiest pair of shoes while traveling will give you more space in your suitcase.

Organize your wardrobe around one basic color such as black, navy, or brown to prevent overpacking. You'll be able to mix and match easily and you won't need to bring a ton of different shoes. Also, when packing think about your vacation activities. Will they include hiking? Days at the beach? Having dinner with relatives? Think ahead and pack items you may need for those activities such as band-aids for hiking, aloe vera for sunburns, and the scarf Aunt Shirley gave you for your birthday if you'll be seeing her.

Travel safely and have an organized trip!

Bermuda Vacations Defy Convention

Bermuda has the sound of a place nestled in the Caribbean with all the other fun-loving tropical islands, but in fact it exists in a realm of its own. You might be surprised to realize that it's actually located east of the States in the Atlantic Ocean, closer to North Carolina than to Florida. This doesn't mean it's cold and blustery, though; quite the opposite. Bermuda is a lush, lovely collection of islands that will satisfy your vacation cravings by transporting you to an unexpected and dreamlike atmosphere, far different than what you're used to.

The Gulf Stream lovingly warms Bermuda with gentle caresses, but the islands never become too hot to handle. Average summer temperatures float between 75 and 85 degrees, while winter is filled with pleasant 70 degree days. And, for hurricane-phobes, take note that while tropical storms do happen every few years, they are far less prevalent than in the Caribbean. That's just one more reason for heading off in a whole new direction.

Seventy five miles of coastline that surround rolling hills, interesting rock formations, and lots of space for replenishing one's energy supply characterize this sprawling archipelago. For some reason nature decided that this would be a good place to allow lava to cool and limestone to push up towards the sun, and what was born was a splendid sight to see. Not that it makes a big difference, but rather than being simply an island, Bermuda is a string of 181 distinct bodies of land. Some are larger islets and some are merely jutting rocks, but they combine to make a geologically unique and visually interesting vacation spot.

Explore the terrain while you're here, keeping your eyes open for the famous tree frogs that sing their songs and add a little extra color to the landscape. Endangered sea turtles and over 350 types of birds also make Bermuda their home, sometimes blending in, sometimes standing out, but always there if you take the time to look. Over the years, colonists and settlers have crafted a virtual paradise of plants and flowers, so in terms of natural wonders and beauty, there's plenty here to please your senses.

Of course, what's an island vacation without a thorough investigation of the beach scene? Bermuda is blessed with another extraordinary quality in the form of its coastal environment. You won't find regular-old sand here, instead it's something utterly pleasing, precious, and pink. Thanks to the coral reefs that surround the islands, the minute particles that go on to make up the sand have a decidedly rosy hue. Thus, the beaches are distinctively desirable and different, shifting your perceptions yet again. Just when you think you have this place figured out, it drops another surprise.

Most of the blushing beaches are public, welcome, and easily accessible. From South Shore Park to Horseshoe Bay, a coastal trail will lead you on your way as you traverse and enjoy the surroundings. If you stick around for a sunset, you'll be even more dazzled by the colorful splashes of brilliance everywhere you look, from land to sparkling sea.

Once you've gotten your bearings and realized the beauty of Bermuda, it'll be time to have a little fun. From fishing to parasailing, kayaking to sailing, the ocean will become your playground for as many hours a day as you please. On dry land, you'll be tempted to golf on a world-class course, zip around on a moped, go for a morning hike, schedule a spa session, learn to play cricket, and much more. After a few days of staying active yet relaxed, busy yet pampered, you'll realize that you've never felt better. A permanent move to Bermuda probably isn't in the cards, but don't despair. Take full advantage of this experience while you're here, and take notes so that your next trip can be even better.

Your first trip to Bermuda deserves all the trimmings, so instead of staying in a traditional hotel, think about the possibility of a vacation rental. A stone's throw away from the beach and all the activities of the town will provide convenience on a grand scale, and the plentiful amenities within the walls of your charming cottage, condo, or villa will complete the picture of perfection. From kitchen supplies to internet access, extra towels to a friendly lanai, all that you could ever imagine will be within reach should you decide to treat yourself to a lodging experience that matches the delights of Bermuda itself.

Go online to start researching Bermuda Vacation Rentals as well as the activities, sights and sounds that will fill your upcoming getaway, and prepare to discover a whole new range of relaxing and engaging opportunities.

Evil Under the Sun

Evil Under the Sun
Mostly for Poirot completists and admirers of then-trendy, all-star ensemble casts from the 1970s and early '80s, Evil Under the Sun finds Peter Ustinov in his second outing as Agatha Christie's famous Belgian detective (three years after 1978's Death on the Nile). As the title promises, the action this time takes place on an Adriatic island (though Christie fans will surely balk at the switch from the novel's setting on the English coast), where a famous stage star (Diana Rigg) is murdered, and the list of likely suspects is unusually high. The parade of legendary performers--Roddy McDowall, James Mason, Sylvia Miles, Maggie Smith, Jane Birkin--plus Ustinov's energetic performance keep things hopping. But Anthony Shaffer's lazy screenplay and director Guy Hamilton's superficial approach nudge everything (action, characters, tone) toward campy, near-parody, with bitchy sniping, tacky costumes, and an obligatory soundtrack of Cole Porter tunes. It's only in the last lap that the film transcends such obviousness and finds its way back to the glories of detective fiction. --Tom Keogh

Summer Rental

Summer Rental
John Candy's first leading role was in this 1985 film by Carl Reiner, in which the comic actor played a stressed-out air traffic controller who takes his family on a Florida vacation and has to deal with arrogant, rich jerks. Candy is good in what is almost a straight part (albeit with some jokes), and Reiner keeps the tone in check so his star has an opportunity to show more than one dimension. --Tom Keogh

Cancun Vacation Rentals

When vacationing in Cancun, you will probably want to spend the majority of your time strolling along the sparkling white sand or wading into the warm waters off the Caribbean coast. The beaches here are as breathtaking as any you will find in Mexico, so enjoying a few lazy afternoons soaking up some sun or swimming in the stunning blue water is a common and greatly relaxing way to spend your vacation. With the beauty of the open water around every corner, why not get the most out of your Cancun adventure by staying in an oceanfront vacation rental.

In the popular hotel zone on the northern side of Cancun, you can find numerous rental condos in some of the most luxurious buildings this area has to offer. Enjoy spectacular views of the Caribbean and the lagoon from your high-rise building without ever stepping foot outside. The floor to ceiling windows provide an amazing sight from almost every room in the house, allowing ample opportunity to truly take in the pristine and majestic nature of your surroundings. Sip your morning brew on the balcony and wake up to the sound of the waves rolling ashore while you forget all the stresses you have left behind in another world.

Choosing a luxury condo rental means more than unworldly views since you are also privy to the first-rate amenities that come with it. Take advantage of the exquisite extras, including plasma TVs and DVD players in every bedroom, a Jacuzzi on the balcony, and a full service kitchen where you whip up a quick snack before heading down to the water, and enjoy life in the lap of luxury. If swimming in the open water makes you a little uneasy, all you need to do is make your way down the elevator and you have access to a masterfully crafted pool that sits along the shores of the ocean.

When you stay on the water, the gorgeous beaches of Cancun are so close that you have absolutely no reason not to return home with a healthy glow. Throw down a towel and pull your favorite book out of your beach bag as the gentle strum of the water slowly calms any apprehension you may have brought with you. If you need a break from the sun, you can walk back to your conveniently located villa and enjoy a refreshing Corona or tall glass of water before heading back out for a swim. With these sparkling beaches constituting your back yard, you simply could not ask for anything more from your soothing and relaxing vacation.

While access to the sun and sand is the perfect way to entertain yourself during the day, there is no way you are going to sit inside your lodging at night when the lively nightlife awaits. With many of the waterfront condos and villas, you are not only within walking distance of Se?or Frogs, Hard Rock Cafe, Carlos 'n Charlie's, and Rainforest Caf?, but also some of the best nightclubs, restaurants, and shopping centers that Cancun has to offer. Forget about riding the bus or driving in an unfamiliar city when everything you need to occupy your day from late afternoon to late night is just a short walk away.

Cancun vacation rentals make it easy to enjoy the enormous beauty this little city on the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula offers to its visitors. Whether you are looking for specific amenities such as wireless internet and a washer or dryer or you simply want a view that takes your breath away with every glance out the window, there is a condo or villa with everything you need to realize the vacation of your dreams. Begin your search for the perfect vacation rental today and experience a vacation that far exceeds any of your expectations.

Back from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Sun, 11 May 2008 16:38:45 -0700
We were vacationing for a week at Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The weather couldn’t have been better and it was a relaxing week. We were able to explore the town and the surroundings and were surprised how tourist friendly the city is. It felt very safe and most of the people spoke English and the local buses covered every part. We took the Bus most of the time and even made a trip to local Walmart to explore. Here are some of the pictures from the trip. Click on thumbnails for larger size.

How Not To Gain Weight During Your Summer Vacations

Luckily, it is that time of year again. You have searched the destination of your choice, booked the tickets and the room, and you are about to leave your worries back in the office or house, except one; your weight. It is true that during our summer vacations, we tend to explore apart from the natural beauties of the places we visit, also the local cuisine that offers a variety of temptations for us to resist. But, in order not to be afraid to weight yourself when you enter your house again, you should better read this short guide on how not to gain weight during your summer vacations.

People tend to think that when they are on vacations it is allowed for them not to follow any type of diet plan or continue to measure their food portions. After all it is summer time; which automatically is translated as the time one should let his/her guards down. Well, tempting as this may seem for many, we all know the outcomes of such a "relaxed" nutritional plan; more business for those weight-loss centers upon the completion of our summer period. But, there is a way out and it does not include "starvation." Keeping your diet's balance is not that difficult, as long as you know what to avoid, when and why.

Let me begin by stating that there are no "bad" foods. There are only bad food habits. One can enjoy an ice-cream, a chocolate cake, an eight-portion meal, or a bag of chips and still manage to keep his or her figure, be active, energetic and fit. The first rule is for you not to skip meals. Instead of eating a big portion of food after starving all day at the beach, you should enjoy a healthy and balanced breakfast that will keep your stomach full and your energy levels high. Then, depending on your usual eating habits, you could eat a light lunch and a heavier early dinner, or vise versa. If you are confused on what to select for your snacks, you can select among fresh fruits, a yogurt or a small tomato and cheese sandwich. By keeping your main three meals a day and adding a couple of snacks in between, you are able to control better your appetite and resist the numerous temptations that can allure you appetite to explore. Moreover, by skipping meals you are destined to eat more and faster, a practice that does not providing enough time for your stomach to inform your brain that it is now full and you should stop.

Swim, walk, do some bicycling and in general exercise! One of the main reasons you can enjoy a heavier meal than usual, without thinking that it will destroy your figure, is the fact that during your summer vacations you exercise more. Take advantage of the opportunities offered in your vacating destination and enjoy the experience of feeling fit and full of energy again. These types of outdoor activities can slim your waistline, reduce significantly your stress, add years of life and improve your cardiovascular and immune systems. Fitness is not a word you should be afraid of. Staying healthy by keeping your body and mind fit are not things you should consider only after you return. By participating in different sports and remembering how it feels to be active, you are improving your chances of staying healthy longer and experience life to its fullest.

Finally, try to sleep as many hours as your body needs to feel relaxed but be active when you wake up. Of course, go out, have fun, dance, play beach sports and converse with friends or strangers. Vacation memories are those you will remember through the years and you should do everything in your power to experience them in full while staying fit.

Cabins: A Guide to Building Your Own Nature Retreat

Cabins: A Guide to Building Your Own Nature Retreat

Authors David and Jeannie Stiles give readers all the information they need to build their own cabins -- whether it be as a wilderness retreat or a backyard studio. The authors describe each step in the process from buying land to obtaining services, from finding qualified construction help to deciding on and developing plans for a structure that suits their lifestyle and budget. Cabins is packed with detailed illustrations, plans and common-sense advice.

Chapters include classic construction methods: how to build a log cabin, pole-built and stick-built cabin, post-and-beam, stone, cordwood and kit cabins. Construction methods are clearly illustrated in photographs and drawings and the advantages of each are explained in detail. Foundations, windows, doors, insulation, roofing, installing utilities, water and sanitary systems and heating are all discussed.

Many designs are presented as inspiration and to help readers select the cabin that is perfect for them: homesteader log cabin, writing cabin, guest cabin, Japanese moon-gazing cabin, lakeside retreat, pyramid and A-frame, and hillside Mediterranean cabin. The authors include personal reminiscences from successful builders and cabin owners, and discuss furnishings and accessories that can help readers get the most enjoyment out of their newly built wilderness retreat.
